The effectiveness of bone broth is due to the bones it contains. When simmered, these bones release some mineral and compounds that can be very beneficial for your health.

Thanks to the amino acids (arginine and glycine) it contains, bone broth possesses powerful anti-inflammatory properties. It is packed with keratin and gelatin which can improve the condition of your hair and nails.

In addition, it contains collagen which helps your skin renew, tighten, and remain firm. This, in turn, reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

Collagen can also soothe the lining of the digestive tract, treating IBS, damaged gut, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s and acidity. Gelatin found in the bones can soothe the lining and repair a leaky gut.

According to a study conducted by the University of Nebraska, the amino acids produced when preparing chicken stock can reduce inflammation in the respiratory system and improve digestion and are very beneficial for treating colds and flu.

Another study proved that it can boost the function of the immune system and treat asthma, allergies, and arthritis. The neurotransmitter glycine can improve sleep and memory, and calm the central nervous system.

In Ayurvedic medicine, broth has been used for strengthening a person’s bones. Broth contains minerals like calcium, magnesium, silicon, and glucosamine, all of which are significantly beneficial for bone health.
