Beauty Uses of Orange Peels – for Acne, Skin Whitening and Toner

Most of us immediately toss the peel after peeling the orange, and apparently, this is a big mistake.

Namely, the orange peel is a rich source of phytonutrients and nutrients that can improve skin health and replace many of our cosmetic products.

According to Style Craze:

“Some reports suggest that the orange peel is actually the healthiest part of the whole fruit. As surprising as that might seem, research tells us that orange peels are rich in flavonoids and several other important phytochemicals that offer various health benefits.

Just to give you an idea – while the orange flesh contains about 71 milligrams of vitamin C, the peel contains over 136 milligrams.

The peel is also replete with copper, calcium, magnesium, folate, vitamin A and other B vitamins, and dietary fiber. All of these nutrients contribute to human health in marvelous ways. “

Here is how to use orange peels to boost skin health:

1. Orange Peel for Acne

The orange peel is rich in vitamin C, which treats various skin issues, and AHA or Alpha Hydroxy Acid, which exfoliates the skin and clean any dirt trapped in the pores.

Peel the orange, wash away any debris and dirt, and rub it over the acne, to naturally get rid of them.

You can also add orange peels to your face masks.

Leave the peel under direct sunlight for at least 3 days, to dry, and then blend it in the blender to get a fine powder. Add the orange peel powder to your homemade face mask.

2. Orange Peel for Skin Whitening

Orange peels can naturally lighten blemished and dark spots on the skin. They also protect the skin from the harmful UV rays.

Mix orange peel powder with water to get a paste, and apply it to the areas that need whitening. After 2 minutes, rinse it off.

3. Orange Peel as Skin Toner

Orange peels naturally tone the skin, tighten the pores, clean dirt and eliminate dead skin cells, and their high calcium content contributes to the antioxidant production and leaves the skin healthy and glowing. Moreover, the orange skin will prevent premature aging, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

In a stainless steel bowl, place several fresh orange peels, and pour hot water over them. Leave for a day.

On the next day, strain the liquid and refrigerate it. Soak a cotton pad in the solution and wipe the face. Leave the skin to dry on its own.
