Best Italian Lemon Pound Cake

Although we should take care of ourselves and our health, it’s not wrong to treat ourselves from time to time.

The ingredients for the cake are:

  • 3 eggs
  • A teaspoon of vanilla
  • Half a cup of sour cream
  • A cup of unsalted, softened butter
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • Around 2 tablespoons of lemon zest
  • A quarter of a teaspoon of salt
  • A teaspoon of baking powder
  • A teaspoon of fresh, minced ginger
  • Half a cup of buttermilk
  • 4 tablespoons of lemon juice

The ingredients for the lemon glaze are:

  • 3 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • One and a half cup of powdered sugar

The ingredients for the frosting are:

  • A quarter of a cup of lemon juice
  • 4 oz. of softened cream cheese
  • A tablespoon of lemon zest
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar

Instructions for the cake:

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Mix the flour, salt and baking powder together. In another bowl, beat the sugar and butter together until they become light. Then, one by one, beat the eggs, too. Add and mix the sour cream, ginger, vanilla, lemon zest and lemon juice.

Mix the butter mixture to half of the flour mixture. Then, mix the buttermilk and add the rest of the flour mixture. You should mix until the flour disappears. In a greased bundt pan, pour the cake batter.

Bake for an hour and ten minutes, and then remove it from the oven, leaving it to cool for 5 minutes.

On a cake platter, turn the cake over. Spread the lemon glaze over the cake, so that the glaze soaks into the cake. After the cake cools completely, spread the lemon cream cheese frosting over it.

Instructions for the lemon glaze:

Whisk the lemon juice and the powdered sugar together, and mix them until the glaze becomes smooth. Then, pour this over the cake.

All of the ingredients should be mixed together until they are smooth and creamy. Add the frosting to the entire cake.
