Scars and blemishes remain on our skin, even though we think that we have won the battle with bad skin. An old saying wisely suggests that if something can’t be put in the mouth, should not be put on the face. This homemade face mask definitely follows this old rule.
This effective, simple and natural mask for the facial skin contains several beneficial ingredients that address those scars and blemishes. Its name comes from its main ingredient, cinnamon.
When cinnamon comes into contact with the skin, it created a tingling sensation, which will fade after a few minutes.
Cinnamon possesses strong anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, but it is also rich in antioxidants that help prevent further skin damage.
The second ingredient of the “Burning Mask” is Nutmeg. Nutmeg is packed with vitamin C, vitamin A, and many antioxidants such as beta-carotene and cryptoxanthin -all of which are fantastic for skin. Nutmeg is also loaded with B-vitamins, including riboflavin (B2), folic acid (B9), and niacin (B3).
The other two ingredients are wet, and consist of honey and lemon juice. Honey works naturally to promote healthy skin. It also possesses powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Despite the astringent qualities of the lemon juice, it has great amounts of vitamin C that helps promote collagen production. Lemon juice also works to naturally balance your skin tone.
Bear in mind, this facial mask causes a tingling sensation when applied on your skin, so it should neither worry nor disturb you.
Remember, the burning sensation will go away after a few minutes, so it is worth waiting for.
Recipe: “Burning” face mask
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon freshly-squeezed lemon juice
Mix all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Apply the mask on the nose, forehead, cheeks and chin, using a small folded towel.
Take care not to apply the mixture too close to your mouth or eyes. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes, or if you can’t stand the sensation that long – at least 10 minutes. Rinse the mask off with warm water.
With the proviso that you have very sensitive skin, either skip the lemon juice or add more honey so that the mixture becomes thicker.
