It’s another muscle-relaxing mineral that does wonders to your muscles and nerves. According to researchers, there may be a genetic link between this mineral and slow-wave sleep or deep sleep. In this stage of your sleep cycle, your brain stops reacting to external factors.
Zinc is important for your overall health. The lack of this mineral may lead to sleep disorders, behavioral issues, and trouble concentrating.

A group of Italian researchers tried to determine the power provided by melatonin, magnesium and zinc supplements. Participants took their supplements an hour before bedtime. The regular dose contained 5mg melatonin, 225mg magnesium, and 11.25mg zinc.
Each of the participants showed improvement unlike subjects who received a placebo. They were able to fall asleep easily, and quality of their sleep improved significantly. They were more alert next morning, too!
Another test showed that two bananas increase serum melatonin levels from 32 to 140 pg/mL. The increase was noticed two hours after the consumption.
