Kids like crunchy food regardless of whether it’s French Fries, chips or other crunchy stuff. Every kid has a phase. They’d rather eat anything as long as it’s crunchy. Kids don’t even think of the unhealthy fats or all the unhealthy sugar and salt.
It’s time to go healthy
You can’t control everything that goes in your kid’s mouth. It’s a fact. But, you can make your kid a plate of healthy crunchy stuff. We all know that deep frying is no good.
French fries are made from starchy potatoes and covered in unhealthy amounts of salt and fat. Starch increases cravings and causes blood sugar spikes. You’ll want more in a few minutes.
Sodium makes your body ask for more. Americans eat too much salt.
There’s a strong connection between sodium and the release of serotonin. You eat more salt when you are sad. Serotonin is the addictive chemical in your body.
Fries are good if you make them using healthy veggies, like avocado. Sweet potatoes, carrots and zucchini are some great choices, but let’s focus on avocado.
Avocado fries are packed with healthy fats. Avocados can help you optimize your cardiovascular health and regulate blood sugar. Healthy fats act as an anti-inflammatory agent.
- ½ cup coconut oil (frying)
- 1 cup of (gluten-free) flour of choice
- ¼ tsp pink Himalayan salt
- 2 eggs
- 1½ cup bread crumbs
- 2 firm-ripe avocados
Put your breadcrumbs in a bowl. Put your flour and salt in a separate bowl. Whisk two eggs in another bowl.
Cut your avocados in slices. You should get about 5-6 wedges per avocado.
Melt the coconut oil on medium-high heat.
First, roll the slices in flour. Step two is the egg part. Dip your slices in the eggs you’ve just beaten. Bread crumbs come last.
Fry the avocado slices on low heat until golden brown. Soak up the extra fat using paper towel.
