Plantago is a herb that was used by people since ancient times. This herb was discovered in Europe 4000 years ago, and since then it is known as medical herb.
There are two types of plantago:
-- Male plantago or Plantago Lanceolata
-- Female plantago or Plantago Major.
The only difference is the shape of their leaves, but both of them have the same herbal composition.
In the plantain leaf is found around 6.5% mucous material in the form of polysaccharides, tannins, coumarin esculetin, flavonoids (apigenin and luteolin), from minerals are present zinc and potassium.
Also plantain leaf contains two very important iridoid glycosides: aucubin аnd catalpol.
The aucubin has antiviral, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects, and catalpol has antihypertensive, antiviral, hepatoprotective, spasmolytic and anti-inflammatory effects.
Besides these properties, plantago acts antiseptic, as diuretic, bactericidal and bacteriostatic.

In the following text you will find a recipe for how to treat stomach ulcer by using plantain leaves.
• 2 liters water
• 200 grams of honey
• 120 plantain leaves
• 2 lemons
First, squeeze the lemons and leave it the juice aside.
Put the lemon peels along with the plantain leaves in a 2 liters of boiling water.
Let the water to boil until remain 600ml.
Strain it and put the liquid in a glass bottle.
Then add the lemon juice along with the honey.
Take 50 ml of this drink every morning before your meal, until all the liquid is consumed.
