We all know how healthy ginger is and that doctors strongly recommend its use, but not many of us actually grow it at home. Christina, a blogger, will sure give you some useful tips on how to grow ginger in your garden.
On the blog “Earth of Dreams” you will not only learn more about America from the perspective of a young girl, Christina, who is from Portland, Oregon, but you can also find some amazing tutorials, and one of them will sure be especially interesting for the passionate gardeners.
“Grow ginger at home!” is the title of the blogpost in which Christina explains in details how to grow ginger in a pot and eventually, enjoy its fruits.
The only material you need is a pot, some soil and a ginger root. You can buy the ginger in any healthy food store and its shape should resemble the human hand. It is best to choose a “hand” with as many “fingers” as possible. Break out the ginger “tentacles” into multiple parts to get more fruits.
Planting is easy: place one of the “fingers” in the pot and do not forget to keep it on the surface of the soil. Be careful not to cover it with any soil at all, because this is the main trick that will get you the results you expect. Water it frequently.Ginger does not require much light, but it sure requires heat.
Christina advises her bloggers to plant the ginger as a house plant in early fall. In spring you can transfer it to your garden. When transferring the plant from a pot to your garden, make sure you choose a place with loose soil and do not forget, water it regularly.
Christina says that you do not need to worry about any pests or problems that may attack the plant.
If you grow your plant following Christina’s advice, the green outgrowth can grow from 60 to 120 cm. Allow the scion to grow from 3 to 5 months before you start using the fruits that will appear in the soil.
