Are you bored of your morning warm lemon water ritual? Ginger and turmeric will take this morning drink to a whole new level!
Due to its potent anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, and antioxidant properties, this powerful elixir can detoxify your liver and blood, and improve digestion.
This remedy is a great immune system booster as well. It can treat a cold, cough, seasonal allergies, sore throat, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic pain, fatigue, and other problems.
If you are able to find, use fresh turmeric root. However, it is not easily found in the grocery stores or markets.
Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh turmeric root or ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger root or ½ teaspoon ginger powder
- 2-3 twists of black pepper (to increases turmeric’s bio-availability)
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 2 teaspoons raw honey (optional)
- 1 ½ cup filtered water
Mix turmeric, ginger and water in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Simmer for 5-10 minutes, but make sure it doesn’t reach its boiling point.
Strain the liquid and pour into a mug. Add the lemon juice and honey and stir.
Turmeric root can leave nasty yellow stains, so when you grate it, make sure not to ruin your countertop or clothing!
