Sinuses are cavities places on both sides of the nose, covered with thin membrane. When this membrane is infected or inflamed, the channel, through which mucus gets out, is blocked. When this happens, we often suffer headaches and stuffy nose.
Usually sinuses are filled with air but if they are clogged, there might be infection occurrence.
What is sinusitis?
Sinusitis is inflammation of the nasal cavity. Sinusitis can be caused by cold, allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps etc.
There are several types of sinusitis: acute (inflammation lasts for 4 weeks or less), sub acute (inflammation lasts from 4 to 8 weeks), chronic (symptoms and inflammation last about 8 weeks and repeat throughout the years) and recurrent (several inflammations during the year)
Natural sinusitis and sinus remedies
This is our personal favorite. All you need to have is 4 tablespoons of sage and 4 tablespoons of chamomile. Put these ingredients in 3 liters of boiling water. Cover yourselves with a towel and inhale deeply. This process should last no longer than 20 minutes. You will feel relief afterwards.
Add 5 cups of water in a pot. Heat the water until it starts boiling. After the water is hot enough, add 2 to 3 drops of eucalyptus oil in it. Inhale deeply but be careful not to burn yourselves.
You can do this procedure using other ingredients besides eucalyptus oil (chamomile, mint, honey, sage or rosemary). Remember -- this procedure must not be done by elderly, people suffering from heart or nervous illnesses, children and pregnant women.
Radishes are great vegetable when it comes to cleaning mucus out of the sinuses. All you need to have is 1 onion and 6 radishes. Put these 7 pieces of vegetable in a blender and mix them well. Put the resulting mixture onto sterile gauze and place the gauze onto your sinuses. Keep the gauze onto your sinuses from 30 to 60 minutes.
Soak one towel in hot water and another one in cold water. Place the warm towel onto your sinuses and keep it there for 30 seconds. After that, place the cold towel onto the same place. Repeat this procedure vice versa. This procedure is going to relief both pain and symptoms caused by inflamed sinuses.
Mix one third of a teaspoon of salt with little bit of baking soda. Pull your head backward and put few drops of the mixture into one of your nasals. After you did this, blow your nose. Repeat this with your other nasal as well. This procedure will soothe inflammation and will clean your sinuses.
Onion has countless health benefits and one of them can help you with your sinus problem. Onion’s antibacterial and antivirus properties will soothe or prevent inflammation.
Here is the simple onion drops’ method of preparation -- mash one onion and add 4 teaspoons of water. Put 10 drops of this mixture into each of your nasals. Repeat this process 2 to 3 times a day, or until sinusitis’s symptoms is completely gone. You can also use these drops once a day as a preventive.
Inhaling chamomile tea can help you to get rid of sinusitis, but, if you want to have even better results, drink several cups of this tea on a daily basis.
Place both thumbs onto your nose and gently press nose’s cartilage for about 30 seconds. After that, release the pressure and repeat the process again.
