Vitamin B and Iron Deficiency Can Cause Anxiety and Panic Attacks

According to a study conducted in Japan, which included 21 individuals, the occurrence of panic attacks and anxiety are closely linked to the levels of iron and vitamin B6.

The study found out that people who have a lack of vitamin B6 and iron, from time to time may experience panic attacks which were marked by episodes of hyperventilation.

Anxiety and Panic Attacks

The study also confirmed that those who have these vitamins in sufficient amounts didn’t suffer from any hyperventilation and nervousness problems.

Vitamin B and iron are essential for the amalgamation of tryptophan into serotonin which controls mental soundness and disposition, and cardiovascular capacity and rest.

Hyperventilation and panic attacks are paroxysmal psychiatric conditions. In most cases, the symptoms occur suddenly and they include shortness of breath, sweating, palpitations, and shaking or trembling.

Usually, B vitamins and iron are related to these disorders. But, regardless of this, the experts tested different types of B vitamin and discover that vitamins B2 and B12 have no relation to hyperventilation and panic attacks.

These disorders are related specifically to a vitamin B6 deficiency. However, all of the B vitamins are essential for the mental well being. So, the deficiency of any B vitamin can cause damage to your mental health.

The Link between B Vitamins and the Mental Health

The better mental health is related to a proper level of the B vitamins. There are many factors which can decrease the body’s stores of the B vitamins including chronic stress, certain medical conditions, and a poor diet.

Usually, patients who suffer from agoraphobia, fear of enclosed public places or crowded spaces, experience a deficiency of certain B complex vitamins.

Anxiety, irritability, fatigue, tension, restlessness, and emotional instability can be also caused by a deficiency of B vitamins.

If you want to take B vitamin supplements, we recommend you to buy those that are produced by companies as MegaFood and Garden of Life.

It is a fact that pharmacies, vitamin shops, and grocery stores sold synthetic vitamins that are isolated portions of those that are found naturally in food. So, make sure to choose carefully when taking the supplements.
